Mission Statement Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves · to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible Study, · to support the mission of the church worldwide, · to work for justice and peace, · to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (USA) and witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom.
Membership Presbyterian Women (PW) is open to all women in the church. Women who are not Trinity Church members but indicate their willingness to accept the purpose of PW and who contribute through service, gifts and attendance to the work of PW are welcome to participate." We currently have nine circles that meet in individual members' homes for a time of fellowship, Bible study, and refreshments.
Missions and Giving PW supports ongoing local charities: Robins Nest, Mother/Child Services, The Children’s Home of Mt. Holly, R & M Boarding Home, Urban Promise
The Care 'N Share Shop: located in the basement of Trinity Church; open during the school year on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.; accepts donations of clothing and small household items to sell; proceeds go to various opportunity missions. They are celebrating their 30th year!
Your Food Shelf: PW collects non-perishable food items to help supply the food shelf located in Camden.
A note from the outgoing Moderator It's hard for me to believe that my year as Moderator of the Presbyterian Women of Trinity is now over; but with the installation of the new PW Board at our recent Spring Dinner in May, my term has ended. It was a busy year, and a year marked by transition at Trinity as we said goodbye to the Rev. Michelle Witherspoon and welcomed our new staff, the Rev. Dr. Greg Faulkner, the Rev. Ms. Kristine Aragon Bruce and the Rev. Ms. Joanne Martindale.
In the midst of those changes, the PW Coordinating Team worked hard to bridge Trinity's past and future. We continued traditional programs and dinners and added a one day retreat. We drew closer to friends at events and circle meetings as we welcomed new women to join us. We supported long-established mission projects and added new mission work that allowed us to use our hands as well as our money. We followed the traditions of the past as we looked to the future for new ideas and direction.
Such a year would not have been possible without the dedicated women who served as the Coordinating Team of PW for 2007-08, women I'd like to thank here for giving of their time and talent: the elected officers, Vice Moderator - Charlotte Gebhart, Secretary - Claudia Miller, Treasurer - Donna Bordner, Mission Interpreter - Sue Bryfogle, Publicity - Kim Bui, Fellowship - Lisa Willoughby, Programs - Donna Allen and Alice Leite, standing committee chairs, Care 'n Share - Eileen Rankin and Directory - Carolyn Kramer, and the circle moderators from each of our nine circles.
Working together as the PW Board, we were also able to compile an impressive list of mission activities for the year, activities that addressed local, national and international concerns.
Once again, my thanks to the 2007-08 Coordinating Team and all the women of Trinity PW for making this such a successful year.
- Linda Thorpe, past Moderator
